A Song of Ice and Fire armies vs the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings armies

Darkstorm Zero

The Storm Of Swords
I'm basing this off of a thread I did on KMC Here and I would like to gather a few opinions from you fine folk here at Spacebattles.

For the rules
1. The combatants that are fighting. = A Song of Ice and Fire armies vs the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings armies
2. The Location or Setting of the contest. = The Battlefields are Arda and planetos
3. Victory Conditions = Total Global Conquest must be achieved.
4. Battle Prerequisites = The armies do not know their enemies strength or numbers. Outside of this, I would give each side 5 years preparation time.
a. Motivation = No holds barred
b. Equipment = Standard equipment for both sides, named characters get their best gear obviously.
c. Preparation = As I say, 5 years each, but no foreknowledge of enemy numbers or types.
d. 'Bloodlust' = As neccesary to achieve conquest. Prisoners can be taken as according to competent strategy and tactics as needed.
e. Knowledge = No
5. Period for combatants = Until conquest is achieved, however long that takes.
6. Continuity or Canon Composite canon for both sides, but books take presedence. Restricted the Lord of the Rings armies to Last Alliance and 3rd Age only, as 2nd age stuff and earlier is nuts for Tolkienverse. And no further back than the start of the first book for ASOIAF. The other books for both series can still be referenced for lore as needed though.

As an addendum, be cautious as this thread may contain spoilers for those who have yet to see Season 7 of Game of Thrones. You have been warned.

Smaug is at least as powerful as the strongest GoT dragon. Galadriel is strong enough to rip down a fortress with her bare hands. Gandalf and the Balrog split a mountain in their fight, and Gandalf can summon fire and lightning and quickly burn down a small forest. The ents are ridiculously strong and tough and would probably steamroll anything in their path short of dragons. The army of the dead is basically indestructible. Etc.

If we went to book that that'd take out the army of the dead (making them merely scary rather than invincible), but yea, what Mak said. Ent army is boss.

Would Middle Earth get Smaug, though? I mean, the OP mention "armies", and Smaug isn't exactly part of one, even if Gandalf suspected Sauron might want to recruit him at some point.

Well, even without him, I don't think it really change the issue. Mordor forces alone would be pretty much impossible to stop, I suspect, what with the combination of monsters, dark magic and tons of canon fodder. The only question mark might be the White Walkers, but I suppose LotR are better equipped against such a threat.

The forces of Mordor come with the Nazghul. When you mention 'last alliance' are you talking about the fight that happened in the book? Because the mention of Last Alliance my mind flashes back to the fight where Sauron lost his finger, which would put Sauron on the field wielding the One Ring which is pretty much a game over unless somebody else gets just as lucky as Isildur was.

Though even without the Ring given to Sauron, we still have, as mentioned, The Ent Army, plus Nazghul, plus the armies of Mordor, plus the forces that Saruman bred up.

Also, in this hypothetical situation, remember when Sauron, while searching for the Shire was offering to give out Rings of Power to the Dwarves. We know that a number of the Seven fell into his hand. Bloodlusted, dwarves probably would be willing to deal with Sauron for those rings (they were mighty tempted beforehand). I doubt the Three would be used in the campaign but still Rings of Power are pretty damn powerful, let alone the One Ring.
